Comment - there is a chip on the cartridge

It will be problem with support of cartridge when the old OEM chip is not removed from the reservoir. Printer will send the message using LED diode or there will be announcement on the screen of monitor.

In same cases (depending from model of printer) printing with the cartridge, where the chip is not replaced will not be possible.
